BM 111 - Diploma Pengajian Perniagaan

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Business today is complex, and it calls for minds that are trained in the broad fundamentals of business. This programme, which started in July 1963 and remains as one of the highly seek programmes among students undertaking diploma programme, gives students a good background of business facts and knowledge upon which they build a career in business. This programme also prepares students for the Bachelor programme in the various specialized field of business. This 3-year programme of 6 semesters covers a wide range of courses.  It includes the study of accounting, economics, marketing, management, math and statistics, language and communication, information technology and legal foundations.


COURSE OUTLINE

 Year One & Year Two
(Semester 1 to Semester 4)


The first two years provide a foundation to various business related disciplines. Students are introduced to several foundation courses, which comprise:
•    3 fundamental business courses:  Management, Marketing and Finance,
•    3 economics courses: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Malaysian Economics
•    2 accounting courses: Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting
•    2 quantitative courses: Business Mathematics and Introduction to Statistics
•    1 legal course: Business Law

Students are also required to equip themselves with other knowledge and skills to further enhance their quality.  These include taking courses in:
•    Computer & Information Processing
•    Business Communication
•    English and another foreign language
•    Islamic Studies
•    Co-curricular activities

Year Three
(Semester 5 & Semester 6)


In the final year, students will continue to take another three compulsory business related courses: Human Resource Management, Information Technology in Business and Business Development. Other than these, students are also given the flexibility of selecting 7 other business related courses from a range of 12.  Among them are Investment Management, Organizational Behavior, Operations Management, Principles of Public Relations, Introduction to International Business, Principles and Practice of Selling, Research Methodology, Fundamentals of Insurance and Fundamentals of Transport.  These wide ranges of business courses provide students with a strong basis in facing the various facets of  business challenges.
 

MC 110 - Diploma Komunikasi & Media


PROGRAMME DETAILS.

The Faculty of Communication and Media Studies offers various courses aimed at helping its students develop their talents and extend their understanding of the processes and practices of various aspects of mass communication. Students in this programme will undergo six semesters of studies in order to graduate with Diploma in Communication and Media. The faculty requires students to undertake three components of courses during the three-year programmes. These components are the requirements of university courses, faculty core courses and programme core courses.

Course Outline

The Diploma in Tourism Management programme runs on a six-semester system (the curriculum is as in Table 1B) and covers 110 credit points of required courses and electives. Included in the fifth semester is an 18-week internship at a reputable and established travel bureau, public tourism department or a resort.
